Fangirl moment. . .

I'm a big fan of actor/entertainer, Jesse L. Martin. He can sing, dance, and acts his ass off. Take a look at him. He has the most adorable smile. *sigh* This was my celebrity tribute to him, for a contest last year. It didn't win the contest, but it sure felt good writing it.
Whether telling perps to "sit yo' ass down,"
or singing "I'll Cover You."
His adorable smile makes watching worthwhile,
he's a handsome man, it's true.
Far more than good looks he does possess
for his talents are immense.
The singing Detective not only croons,
the man can also dance.
On table tops, on subway cars,
on stages of Broadway;
watch as he fulfills his dream
of portraying Marvin Gaye.
Hear him sing and watch him dance,
your attention he commands.
And someday soon he'll get his due,
an Oscar in his hands.

Of course, he's not a detective anymore. He left Law & Order, in April of this year, to pursue other things. He's slated to star as Marvin Gaye, in the biopic titled Sexual Healing, which is now scheduled for 2010. I have to say, I usually wait until a movie releases to DVD and rent it through Netflix, but I can't wait for this one to hit the movie theaters! I'll be the first one in line.
Okay, fangirl moment over. . .

One day in your life

Hello fellow bloggers! Since this is my first blog here, I thought I'd tell you a little more about me. My name is Verdi Mathis. I'm a romance writer. Blah, blah, blah. Pretty boring, I know. Have you ever had one of those days where you do all the right things, and say all the right things, and you can tell when people look at you that they're thinking "wow, she's got it all together?" Well, that's not me. On any given day, that's not me. My best friend can tell you, I trip over completely flat surfaces, drop food on my clothes and yes, I sometimes walk into walls. What can I say? I'm a klutz. But, I've learned to accept that about myself. I've even learned to laugh about it. I guess in some small way, it's an endearing quality. Yeah. Right. Whatever. As I said in the "about me" section, I am a widow. I lost my husband in 2002. He passed away sixteen days shy of his 40th birthday, and my 39th birthday. Yes, we had the same birthday, April 18th. My world spiraled out of control when he died. I was left alone, to raise 3 boys into men. Yikes! Flash forward 6 years later, and we're still here. And, we miss him everyday. So, between raising my young men, working for the federal government, and trying to keep the bill collectors off my back, I squeeze in time for writing. Not a lot of time, but a few minutes here and there. I won't promise that I'll blog everyday. Most of my blogging is done on MySpace. Maybe I'll figure out how to tie them together. That's pretty much me, in a nutshell. Feel free to drop by anytime. I'll try to post something to hold your interest. Also, if you are so inclined, please visit my friend and fellow blogger, Ashley Ladd. She has been kind enough to feature me as her guest blogger for today. http://www.ashleyladd.blogspot.com
